Brought into use in 1975, the Small Stage is the oldest performance space and the former main stage of Tallinn City Theatre. Even though it’s not a black box, there is a possibility to use different setups. Starting from Elmo Nüganen’s groundbreaking adaptation of Chekhov’s Unfinished Piece for Player Piano (set design by Vladimir Anshon), there have been several productions that have included also the adjoining rooms to the performance. In 2004 the attic above the Small Stage was renovated, which granted the venue more possibilities to create stage effects.
