Before leaving

Author:
Florian Zeller
Director:
Hendrik Toompere

Some couples stay together for a few years, some for decades. André and Madeleine have been living together for more than 50 years. It seems quite impossible to imagine them living without each other – they have become one. But nobody can run away from time that goes by. All these thoughts about uncertain future bring up a question: what if one leaves before another?

Florian Zeller (b 1979) is a French novelist and playwright, currently one of the most popular playwrights in the world. Before Leaving is a mixture of tragedy and farce where the author constantly pulls the chair off from the viewer. It is a labyrinth where one seeks for the truth, but as soon as we’ve caught it, it takes another form and slips away.
